Moving onto the questions!

1. Have you ever been pressured to do something that ended up having a positive effect?

I haven’t technically been pressured to do anything but I have been persuaded to go to certain gatherings and meet people. Most end up catastrophic but yes, some end up with positive outcomes, not a positive effect. I like it when the people I’m around ask me questions other than ‘How is school?’ or say “I haven’t seen you in so long! Remember me?‘ An event where that doesn’t happen is a very positive day.

2. How do you combat pressure?

I think it depends on the type of pressure and I owe all my treasure trove of pressure to school. So, I either complete the school work that’s weighing me down or if I have time to spare, I write, read, draw or listen to music.

3. If your friend was being pressured into something, how would you help them?

This is such a vague question. It depends on what they are being pressured into and by whom? Considering the present, I don’t have a lot of friends and the few I have are very easy going people and don’t seem to be under pressure. The only pressure that’s weighing us down is school, and that is something most students live with and have their own way of dealing with. If the friend in question was having a hard time learning a new concept or something, I would help them understand it.

4. Now, how do you think a person should combat pressure?

Again, I really think it depends on the person. Some find talking very liberating and it’s their way of easing pressure off their lives. Others like taking a break from life and spending a whole day indulged in hobbies and me time. And yet others find comfort in certain forms of art like singing or writing. I think all forms are good as long as they don’t harm the person and those around them.

5. If you could change one choice you made from being pressured into something, what would it be?

Haha, in most cases, it’s me who’s pressuring myself. The last choice I pressured myself into was sending a poem (a terrible one, but I secretly like it now because it has a fun memory attached to it) to a literary journal. I don’t know why I did it, I was feeling very reckless and it was 1 am. I posted it here when the same recklessness graced me with its presence! (The journal rejected it, obviously)

6. What do you think is the worst type of pressure a person could face? Any type of pressure qualifies!

The pressure to meet expectations. I’m not saying it’s completely bad but it seems to be more powerful in hurting people than other types of pressure.

7. Have you ever felt pressure while blogging?

Haha, no! I was writing before I started blogging, so I don’t feel too pressured to sit down or have no need to force myself to write something for this blog alone. I have never done that and hope I don’t, because that kills what writing means to me. Scheduling posts help too. Now that I’m in grade 12, I don’t spend as much time on my blog as I used to and scheduling posts helps Random Specific Thoughts stay active and on schedule.

But a long hiatus is on it’s way sadly.

8. This is kind of an open-ended question- do you think peer pressure is good or bad?

Both. It’s bad when people start hating themselves because they’re different from their peers. It’s good when it makes a person competitive (in a good way) and motivates them to work harder. I’ve been on both ends and I feel like one makes up for the other.

9. Song and book recommendations:

10. (Random Question)
Will you think about tagging me for another tag(say yes for brownie points!)?
Also, what do you think about pineapple on pizza?

(I believe I already have!)
I haven’t tried it. I’m not very fond of food and usually refrain from trying out new food combinations. I’m sorry but I think pineapple on pizza sounds wrong.

Please feel free to do this tag if you find it interesting!
I’m passing on the same questions from asic’s post!

Hometown Glory
~songs that remind you of home~

I don’t think I have songs that remind me of home but there are few that make me feel like I’m at home.

Take me Home by John Denver
There’s just something about this song that makes me long for home and make me proud of home all at the same time.

Lost Boy by Ruth.B
My, this is such a beautiful song and it’s been one of my favourites for well over a year now. It has a certain warmth and sense of belonging to it. And I love Peter Pan too.

Cry with you
~songs to make you cry and cry~

I don’t think I’ve been moved to tears but I have gotten to the point where if someone were to ask me something, I’d have burst into tears (which hasn’t happened thankfully).

Supermarket Flowers by Ed Sheeran
This song is immaculately beautiful and so heartfelt. It’s been a favourite for a good few years and is also a little personal. I love this song so much.

Before You Go by Lewis Capaldi
It is so emotive and the lyrics are so poignant, the song is so powerful and relevant, this is as close to perfection as art can go.

I think I’m in love
~your latest musical obsessions~

Somewhere in Ann Arbour by Anson Seabra
I love slow, sad or contemplative songs and Anson Seabra’s music is always so beautiful and the lyrics alone are almost poetic in nature. Somewhere in Ann Arbour has got such beauty to it.

exile by Taylor Swift
I never expected to love folklore but I did and exile is my favourite of the album. I love the melody and the lyrics and just about everything about it.

Afterglow by Ed Sheeran
This song just calms my heart down. It’s not the kind that I’d play on repeat but it’s the kind I can’t leave without listening to if it begins playing.

Writer in the dark
~favourite lyrics from songs~

If only I'd have known you had a storm to weather
So, before you go
Was there something I could've said
To make it all stop hurting?
It kills me how your mind can make you feel so worthless
-Before You Go by Lewis Capaldi
Dancing through a dream underneath the stars
Laughing 'til the morning comes
Everyone that leaves has a heavy heart
Oh, Wonderland I love
-Wonderland by Anson Seabra

Sign of the times
~song in the charts that you love~

One More Light by Linkin Park
This is yet another song that has profound lyrics and a powerful beat and gets you all thoughtful at the end.

Warrior by Demi Lovato
I love how this song is about strength and courage, and she has such a firm and powerful voice and that accompanied with amazing lyrics makes for a wonderfully uplifting song.

Sing to me instead
Warning: terrible singing likely
~those songs you have to sing to~

Haha, I don’t sing at all. I used to love singing when I was younger but grew out of it at some point. I love music but don’t sing because then I find it difficult to forget how I sounded and it’ll haunt me for life. I don’t feel like singing at all, no matter how amazing the song is, I just like listening to them in peace.

If this was a movie
~favourite songs from movies/tv/broadway~

Holdin’ Out by The Lumineers // Storks
I love how upbeat this song sounds. It always calms me down and makes me feel good and happy about life.

A Million Dreams and Tightrope // The Greatest Showman
The movie was great and its soundtrack was even more brilliant! These are my two favourites of the whole album and they’re such lovely songs with great lyrics and catchy tunes.

More than a memory
~songs you have specific memories attached to~

Castle on the Hill by Ed Sheeran
I used to listen to this song on almost every car trip, it was the most played song on my playlist a few years back and I still listen to it occasionally, especially when I’m looking for inspiration to write or draw something that is cheery and just makes someone smile in general. It’s very nostalgic too.

Comfort crowd
~songs that make you feel calm~

"..Some people would say
To accept their fate
Well, if this is fate
Then we'll find a way to cheat
Cause, oh, we'll say a little prayer
But, oh, if the answer isn't there
You know you can call on me...
-Call on Me by Starley
"...Oh I loathe, anyone sways me
Back and forth, porcelain daisy
I'm sure, puppeteers made me
Tied, arms high
Uncontrolled, strung up and crazy
Take hold, patient constraining
I loathe, how I've been tamed to
Fear goodbyes.....
-Tired and Awake by Oliver Riot
"...I just want to show them that I can make it on my own
I want to go up up and away
Up, up and away
Ninety-seven more days until I'm living out in the worlds
If it's true what they say then I'll turn my problems into pearls.."
-Up up and away by Chance Peña

I wasn’t expecting that
~songs you didn’t expect to love, but you do~

Diamonds by Sam Smith
My friend Srisha @ Sky and Soil shared this song and I loved it! I didn’t really like Sam Smith’s music in general except for a few favourites till then but I’m growing to love most of his songs now.

exile by Taylor Swift
I wasn’t a huge fan of Taylor Swift until folklore happened and I surprised myself by loving almost all the songs on that album. I loved the slow, folklore-y vibes it gave off. I was a tad disappointed when I realised there was no song named folklore but evermore made up for that.

Kings and Queens by Ava Max
I don’t really like loud songs where the chorus is very loud and there are a lot of instruments, especially drums in the background. I don’t like much of Ava Max’s music either but I loved the subject of Kings and Queens and it is very catchy too.

Favourite record
~name the albums you couldn’t live without~

Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent by Lewis Capaldi
Before you Go
Someone You Loved

Just the Beginning by Grace Vanderwaal
City Song
So Much More Than This
A Better Life
Actually I love all of her songs on this album!

folklore by Taylor Swift
this is me trying

Divide by Ed Sheeran
Supermarket Flowers
Hearts Don’t Break Around Here
Save Myself
Castle on the Hill

Always remember us this way
~songs that remind you of your childhood~

What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction
I’ve never been a fan of One Direction. I was in the third grade or so when I first listened to this song. It seemed like schools and stores and even radios were all obsessed with this song for a while, I’d hear it everywhere I went.

Hall of Fame by The Script
Again, this was a song that I’d widely hear in a lot of places and I grew to like it eventually. It’s not the kind of favourite I’d play on repeat but I sometimes find myself searching for it on Spotify.

For The Love Of Animals!

I saw an animal tag over at Cari’s blog, All Creatures Great and Small. She didn’t tag me but I found it interesting and she very kindly told me I could do it!

Make sure you check out her wonderful blog here to learn more about a huge variety of animals and support her efforts to “save the world through education and conservation”.

Since I was doing an animal tag, I figured I might add a few drawings as well. I recently finished two animal pages and it didn’t turn out very neat, since I was using water colour for a few of their backgrounds.

The Rules:

➼Link back to original creator – Cari
➼Link back to the person who tagged you or the blog where you first saw this tag (Cari).
➼Answer all the questions.
➼Add one more question of your own.
➼Tag at least 5 people.
➼Don’t lie.
➼Have fun!

Now onto the questions!

1.What is your favorite animal?

Apart from dogs, I think I’d go with panthers! And I love owls and eagles among birds!

2.What got you interested in animals?

Everyone in my family loves animals. I sort of just grew up and into that mindset. Besides, I have never found a reason to not like them.

3.Do you have a pet?

Yes! I have a pet dog named Willy! He’s four years old and I might as well add, he’s my best friend! I also got a Betta fish recently whom I named Pete. He’s shimmery blue and looks gorgeous with a tinge of red towards the end of his tail. I’ve been dying to draw him, but I don’t want to do an inking and I don’t know how to do it in colour pencil.

4.What is you’re favorite nonfiction book about animals?

Definitely All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot! I loved his manner of narration in this book.

5.What is your favorite fiction book about animals?

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell! It’s an exceptional book.

Black Beauty by Anna Sewell is considered to be one of the first fictional animal autobiographies. I loved the way the whole story was narrated from the horse’s perspective. All those detailed descriptions and tales, some of which were heartbreaking all came together at the end. I would definitely recommend this book to all ages; it’s an incredibly beautiful story.

-A tiny review I wrote on both Amy’s blog, Amy’s Musica. She’s a wonderful singer and an incredibly supportive friend!
It’s also been included on my book blog, Paper Hearts.

6.Have you been a part of any animal conservation efforts?

No. But I hope to be part of one, soon.

7.What is your top bucket list dream that you would do with animals?

Good question! I haven’t thought of it before but I would love to see animals in their natural habitats. As to what I would want to do with them, I think I’d enjoy scuba diving in a place with a rich aquatic eco-system.

(I drew this little pup for a competition over at The Bandit Post)

8.Have you ever dressed up like an animal?

I always dress like a human (yes, humans are animals).

Humans are terrestrial animals, characterized by their erect posture and bipedal locomotion; high manual dexterity….

But no, I don’t think I have.

My added question, (to which my answer is yes) is:

9. In the poem, Animals by Walt Whitman, the poet states that,
“They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins..”

where the ‘They’ refers to animals. Do you agree?

I tag:

And anyone who loves animals!!

The Last Leaf, absolutely.

2.Do you like MATHS ?
I do, it is one of the subjects that doesn’t have a lot of constraints on it.

3.What about cooking?
NO. I don’t like food in general and I don’t enjoy cooking either. I used to like baking but almost everything that I baked ended up unfit for human consumption. So..

4.Your phobia?
I don’t like taking photos. So, is photophobic

The Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award #2

I would like to thank 3yellowdaisies for nominating me for this award! Check out her blog here where she posts inspiring and amazing lifestyle content!

The Rules:

1.Thank the person who have nominated you and provide a link back to his/her blog.
2. Answer their questions.
3. Nominate up to 9 other bloggers and ask them 6 new questions.
4. Notify the nominees through their blog by visiting and commenting on their blog.
5. List the rules and display the “Ideal Inspiration Blogger Award” logo.
6. Provide the link of the Award creator of ideal inspiration blogger award as Rising Star.

Her questions (and my answers):

1.Would you consider yourself more as an introvert or an extrovert, or both? Explain why.
I’m definitely an introvert because I don’t have any extrovert traits. I hate large gatherings of people, I love spending time alone, I don’t like calling or talking and prefer text to calls. Really, I’m the typical introvert. And all the ‘personality tests’ I’ve taken labelled me an introvert. So..

2. Which quote do you live by the most?
It usually changes every month or so. Right now, Ernest Hemingway’s ‘We’re all broken. That’s how the light gets in.’ is my favourite quote.

3. What is your biggest accomplishment in your life thus far? And if you haven’t accomplished it yet, talk about what you would like to accomplish
I would love to give a definite answer here but I’m still exploring my options. Everything I’ve accomplished so far was merely a part of my life as a student, it was not unique to me as a person. Academically, I hope to end up pursuing a career in my favourite branch of science. I would most definitely consider that an accomplishment (were it to happen).

4. If you were able to travel back in time to tell your younger self something, what would you say?
That she would get a dog in the future.

5. How would you describe your life purpose?
I think I’m a tad too young to go as far as defining my “life’s” purpose. My dream however is to bring about a change in society’s perception of women and in my country’s education system.

6. What are three things you value most about a person?
Honesty, loyalty and originality.

My Nominees:

1.Ainsley Beth
2.Dulcy Singh
4.Sunflower Seeds
6.Thoughts of a Wallflower
8.The Crumbling Facade
9.Indie’s Essays

1. Would you consider yourself more as an introvert or an extrovert, or both? Explain why.
2. Which quote do you live by the most?
3. What is your biggest accomplishment in your life thus far? And if you haven’t accomplished it yet, talk about what you would like to accomplish.
4. If you were able to travel back in time to tell your younger self something, what would you say?
5. How would you describe your life purpose?
6. What are three things you value most about a person?

Zero. I always have my textbook next to me!

2.What is your greatest wish?
To meet Professor Dumbledore!

3.Do you like emojis or not?
I like their usage and their abilty to convey inexplicable emotions. But I hate the yellow colour, which is why I don’t use them in my blog posts.

4.Who is your favorite author?
J.K Rowling, definitely!

5.Your favorite book series?
The Harry Potter series!! Duh.

6.Are you talkative or silent?
Silent at school, but talkative at home and when I’m by myself.

7.One thing you dislike or like about any of your favorite author?
I absolutely adore J.K Rowling’s abilty to contain so many elements in one story. It’s amazing how she entwines everything so seamlessly! I also like Dan Brown’s books! Being a science fiction enthusiast, his books are so informative and fun to read!

8.Do you have siblings?
Yes, I have an elder brother! Check out his blog here!

9.Do you play any instruments?
Sadly, no. But I want to learn the violin someday.

The Mystery Blogger Award!

The Mystery Blogger Award!

A huge thank you to Tia from Tall Blonde Tales for nominating me for this!! I’m so overwhelmed to have been nominated for this award! She is a wonderful blogger and a Potterhead too!! Check out her blog here!!

The Rules:

1. Put the award logo on your blog.
2. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.
3. Mention the creator of the award.
This award was created by Okoto Enigma. Check out her blog here!!
4. Answer the questions you were asked.
5. Tell the readers three things about you.
6. Nominate 10-20 bloggers.
7. Notify the bloggers (tell them you nominated them) by commenting on one of their posts.
8. Ask your nominees five questions with one weird or funny one.
9. Share a link to your best posts.

Three (random) things about me and my best posts:

1.I am an introvert in real life but an extrovert in writing.
2.I love learning new things but I hate school.
3.I am super weird and awkward and love using exclamation marks.

I don’t know which are my best posts. I love my posts when I’m writing them but after a few days, I begin to find all sorts of things wrong with them. But here’s an article and two poems that still remain okay.
1. Breaking Barriers (article)
2. Day (poem)
3.Tears (poem)

Her Questions (and my answers):

1. Why did you start your blog?
It wasn’t a planned decision. I was introduced to the idea by my brother. Check out his blog here!
It was reckless and sort of just happened. My blog is basically a place for me to express my thoughts freely. I am terrible at talking to people and have a really bad sense of humor. Writing doesn’t require those.

2. What’s your favourite cookie, and why?
I like butter cookies, I guess. I don’t know why. Maybe, because they um…taste good? I have a generally unenthusiastic approach towards food. Hence, the stupid answer.

3. Which would you prefer: a holiday in the frosty cold or somewhere hot and tropical like the beach?
A holiday in the frosty cold, definitely. For some reason, I love wearing sweaters even in the summer. And summer is my least favourite season.

4. What is the most valuable blogging lesson you’ve learnt?
I’ve learnt that the journey matters more than the destination. I’ve made some great blogging friends here, something that I wouldn’t have been able to do in real life (read awkwardness above) and the importance of sticking to a schedule. I have also learnt a lot from certain bloggers’ posts.

5. If you could transform into an animal (any animal – real or fantasy), what would it be and why?
This is a good question! I basically love all animals, so it’s pretty hard to choose one. I think I’d want to be a phoenix because their tears have healing properties (for some reason, I also have a weird love for tears). And I really love Fawkes. So..

My Nominees:

1. the flood
. Hilipification
5. Catie Blogs
6. Daughter of the Light
7. Poetry and Life of an Irrelevant Girl
8. Amy’sMusica
9. FarFar Away
ella isn’t studying
11.View from the Back
Geek Stop
.Hawthorn Book Reviews
14.Soaring Firebolt
15.Christy’s Minute
And you!! If you feel like you would enjoy answering these questions or are out of post ideas, consider yourself nominated!!

My Questions For You:

1.Who or what is your biggest inspiration and why?

2.Have you ever seen a ghost? Or would you want to?

3.Which is your favourite book and why?

4.Have you made any predictions?

5.Imagine you were fated to remain a fictional character forever. If you could only choose between Voldemort and Dolores Umbridge, whom would you choose?
OR (in case you haven’t read the Harry Potter books)
If you could see the whole world in only one colour, which one would you choose: black or white?

That was all for this post! Thank you!

Blogger Awards!!

Wow, I’m beyond overjoyed right now! I got nominated for two blogger awards; The Outstanding Blogger Award and The Sunshine Blogger Award! These are long overdue and it is going to be a long post!

The Outstanding Blogger Award

Just something that I designed (using Canva)!

I would like to thank Catie from Catie Blogs for nominating me for the Outstanding Blogger Award! She posts amazing content and has a sarcastic and amusing writing style! They do make for a delightful read! Check out her blog here!
There wasn’t a logo, so I designed the above (thing?). Feel free to use it if you want but please mention it’s not the official logo. I don’t know if there is one.

The Rules:

1.Provide the link to the creator’s original award post. (very important: see why in step 5).
This award was created by Colton Beckwith. Here’s the original post.
2.Answer the questions provided.
3.Create 7 unique questions.
4.Nominate 10 bloggers. Ensure that they are aware of their nomination. Neither the award’s creator nor the blogger that nominated you can be nominated.
5.At the end of 2020, every blog that ping-backs the creator’s original post will be entered to win the 2020 Outstanding Blogger Award!

Her Questions (and my answers):

1.How are you doing?
I’m doing great but I’m having a bit of a hard time getting used to online classes. But don’t get me wrong, I am in no way missing school. It’s just with online classes, I tend to um…get distracted every now and then.

2.Have you ever cried during a movie?
No, not really. But I have been reduced to tears by a few books. I have watched some sad movies but I’ve never shed tears for any. To be honest, I don’t really like watching movies, I’m a little impatient to sit through the whole thing. But I do love the Avengers! I guess in movies, the closest I came to crying was when Dobby died.

3.What’s the last song you listened to?

Her Questions (and my answers):

1.What embarrasses you the most and/or what’s been your most embarrassing moment?
I am a super weird and awkward person in general and I’m always embarrassing myself. Like, a few days ago, I was in a meeting with a teacher and a couple of students. It was a trial meeting and they really weren’t discussing anything important. Okay, maybe, they were. I had muted my microphone and I was listening to songs. But apparently, I had only thought it was muted. Long story short, the teacher kept looking at me strangely till I figured they could all hear the song. But it was a pretty good song, they should be glad I made them listen to it. If you’re curious, it was ‘Anthem for the Judged’ by Niki Demar.

2.Who do you look up to the most, and what qualities do you love about that person?
I’m one of those weirdos who doesn’t have a role model. See, I look upto many people for certain qualities. Sadly, I haven’t met a person who has all the qualities I want. I look upto both of my parents for their perseverance, honesty and optimism. I look upto my brother for his confidence. I also look upto huge personalities like J.K Rowling and Robert Downey Junior.

3.What would be your perfect day? Plan it out from waking up to bedtime.
My perfect day. That’s a hard question. I don’t like having the same things happening everyday. No, I’m definitely not talking about school. I prefer following a routine but I want something unexpected to happen, good or bad. But if I had to imagine one, I’d say the perfect day would be one, where I wake up in the Gryffindor common room and get to spend the whole day with Professor Sinistra. And then I would want to explore the Forbidden Forest with Hagrid and Fang. I wouldn’t mind meeting a few Greek demigods and Chiron, the centaur either.

4.What’s your biggest fear?
I don’t know. Probably, failure. Failure at school, failure in life, just pure, raw failure. I hate to admit it but it’s literally what drives me forward. If you can’t already say by now, I like letting my imagination run wild and end up envisioning all sorts of horrible scenarios with future me. That works about all the time.

5.How do you like to be comforted when you’re sad or upset?
I prefer to be left alone. I don’t like it when people try to make me feel better. I like being harsh on myself, if that makes any sense. So I usually blame myself if anything goes wrong, and end up ranting about it to myself. I finally write a whole, detailed account in my journal/diary immortalising every moment, you know for future references.

6.What’s your all-time favourite memory?
Definitely the one when my parents finally got me a puppy! He’s four years old now and he is the cutest and my best friend!!

7.What’s your favourite thing you own and why?
Books. And books. More books. Books again.
Seriously, they have helped me a lot.

8.Who was the last person who made you cry and why?
No one made me cry today. But if I cry, it’s either because I’m frustrated about something or because I’m having a hard time getting my point across in an argument. Another embarrassing moment.

9.Where do you hope to be five years from now? Ten? Fifteen?
I hope to have amassed a masters in my favourite branch of Science in ten years and a job in fifteen and then more education. My aim is to end up like Professor Dumbledore.

10.If money was no object, what would you buy?
Books. More books. And a telescope. And a celestial globe.

11.When have you felt the most proud?
I don’t know. Pride doesn’t really last in my case. It’s either extreme joy or sorrow.
