Art Niche

Welcome to my ‘art’ page! If you’re visiting for the first time, please check out ‘Home‘ to read my written works and ‘Introduction‘ for a general overview.

Throughout my life, I’ve had an on and off relationship with drawing, sketching and crafts. I’m not good at any of those but sometimes, I manage to whip up reasonably presentable pieces of art. I don’t know how to draw from my imagination, so, I usually just use reference images from Pinterest or draw objects around me.

DIY

I basically painted a huge plastic lid black, then painted circular cardboard with acrylic hoping for a universe/space kind of theme, then I stuck numerical stickers and attached the cardboard to the lid. Then my parents helped me make a hole in the middle, where we attached the clock mechanism. I stuck some star stickers on the second hand, so now it looks like a shooting star is always in motion. And done!

Shown above is a collage of images of DIY book covers (10 covers, to be precise). The oldest one [second row, last(yellow) one] is 2 years old. They have all been done with acrylic paint and a piece of sponge. I also used pens for a few details.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

To start this artsy journey, here are a few of the very first pictures that I drew. I was probably 4 or 5 when I drew these. A huge thank you to my parents who preserved these ‘drawings‘. They remain the purest products of my toddler self’s imagination to this day. Had I seen these at 13 or 14, I would have disposed of them ruthlessly. Ah, the enormous proclivity towards stupidity my early teenage self possessed. Sometimes, I’m amazed by it myself. Oh well.

Stay tuned for more! Thank you so much for stopping by! Let me know what you think and which one was your favourite (if any)!

Thoughtfully yours,
Introverted Thoughts aka D

I love your DIY book covers and your clock! I think they came out gorgeously! And you did really well with the value on the cartoon characters! I personally have always had issues with that, haha, but you made it look so smooth! Awesome job darling!

You’re talented at writing and art? COOL. Not that surprised tho…you’re amazing at lots of things!! Hey, even the drawings you did when you were little are pretty good, esp since you were very young…see, you had the creativity back then! That clock is just GORGEOUS and your drawings of Scooby, Flounder, Sebastian, and Tom are literally identical to how they look in the movies!

These are fun pictures! I LOVE the clock. Some owls just have big feet. I can imagine a children’s book about an owl with big feet or big talons who learns that they are very useful for catching something important or saving a baby something or other from drowning in the river….. And the owl learns to accept and appreciate his differences.

Wow, I never thought of it that way! Learning to accept and appreciate one’s differences applies to all. Well said!

Jeesh, it’s so hard to pick a fave out of all that talented artwork! At the risk of being irritating I’m going to say that I love that man you painted when you were quite young. And I love the clock face and all the covers. Out of the cartoons I love your rendering of Scooby Doo, but to be honest – there isn’t a bad one among them all. Well done! And thanks again for sending me the link. 🙂
