The Christmas Spirit

Christmas is conventionally a season of joy, togetherness and giving in general. It’s the feast celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, a saviour who gave himself up to redeem humanity of its sins. In a way, Christmas is a nod at the phase of forgiveness that follows – a virtue we should practice more often.

It makes sense that Christmas is synonymous with love, joy and togetherness and all things so beautifully human. As Toni Sorenson puts it,

The true Christmas spirit is putting others’ happiness before our own, and finding you’ve never known such happiness.

So please give yourselves and those around you your time and be thoughtful at life that unfolds so unpredictably but perfectly so. Forgive everyone and everything that weighs you down, forgive yourselves too – it’s been a hard year for a lot of us and moments of anger and hopelessness have plagued far too many.

It isn’t just beauty that makes us look forward to something, it’s purpose and a need to understand more of who we are, what life can turn out to be. There is this incredibly magical feeling that accompanies peace – the kind that’s emanated by letting go and being able to breathe freely, living in the moment and feeling safe.

On this Christmas day, let go of all that’s been, even if it’s just for a moment and appreciate everyone and everything around you and please have a wonderful time, partaking in the true Christmas Spirit – finding joy in love and forgiveness.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a day filled with lots of laughter and peace.
