I read about this last year and was reminded of it again this year when I read about it on Bea’s blog @ HyperbolB. She is an amazing artist and it is always a pleasure to go through her works!

It’s basically a month-long event where you have to post something you drew in ink online. I decided to participate this year as I liked the idea behind it, not to mention the fact that this would be a great way to get a bit of art done every day. Here is a short video if you would like to learn more about it. Head over here to read the rules and other related articles!

Given below is the list of the prompts for this year’s Inktober. There are some pretty weird prompts and I’m keen to see others’ take on the prompts as well. As for me, I’ll probably draw cartoon images or seek inspiration from Pinterest as always.

I don’t think I could be consistent enough to post daily which is why I’ll be posting weekly updates. That brings us to the new posting schedule (for this month only). Everything will resume its usual monotony once it is November. For the new schedule, I’ll be posting my regular random stupid thoughts, poems or articles on Sundays, miscellaneous posts on Wednesdays as opposed to the previous Thursdays and Inktober weekly updates on every Friday. To sum it up, you can expect a post every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

I look forward to seeing how this will turn out!! I am more of a pencil person. So, drawing in pen or ink, for that matter, is a little out of my comfort zone and I feel like this would be a challenging and fun experience at the same time. Hopefully, by the end of this month, I’ll have 31 drawings that don’t look nightmarish.

Today is a Friday (according to the time zone here), so here are the first two Inktober drawings. The prompts for October 1 and October 2 (today) were Fish and Wisp respectively. Hope you like them!

So, I drew Dory from Finding nemo for the ‘fish’ prompt and although she isn’t perfect (her eyes turned out terrible! No, please don’t look again), I liked how she turned out. Let me know what you think!

For the ‘wisp’ prompt, I considered so many options and finally decided on this fox with a wispy tail (wisp-a thin, light, delicate, or fibrous piece or strand, such as a streak of smoke or a lock of hair). I found so many like this on Pinterest and used 2 images for reference while drawing this. I should have written Inktober somewhere but I kind of forgot to edit that in.

Thank you so much for bearing with me while I went through all that.

I hope you too, would participate in this event!! Apart from the drawing part, I think it is a great way to improve one’s creativity and get something artistic done everyday. I was a little anxious when everyone used the word ‘inking’ which in short, means going over a pencil sketch with ink.

Since I don’t have ink and don’t know how to do the traditional inking, I decided to use, just a plain, black fineliner (0.5 mm) for all my drawings. Inktober tools mention brush pens, copic multi-liners along with another set which did include a 0.5mm ink pen.

Thank you so very much for reading and I hope you have a great day today!

That’s sad. You can always attempt this year and be consistent! Besides, there are so many people here who are doing it and I think part of the inspiration comes from our eagerness to share with and learn from others!
    Thank you!
